Renovations to the Historic Whaling Museum

Keville Enterprises provided project management services for the National Parks Service in connection with the $6M expansion and renovation of the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, MA. Completed work included rehabilitation of two historic buildings on the “Corson Block”, which were expanded and connected to the existing museum. In addition, a multi-purpose classroom space, theatre space and seminar/meeting space was added, with all construction and renovations work being completed in conformance with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Criteria (LEED), including:

  • 100% reuse of masonry building shell
  • Large windows and south facing courtyard to provide abundant natural light
  • High efficiency HVAC equipment
  • Green (vegetated roof) on building connection link
  • Water saving plumbing fixtures and no landscaping irrigation
  • High use of water-saving plumbing fixtures and low emitting materials
