NSTAR transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas to 1.4 million customers in Eastern and Central Massachusetts, including over one million electric customers in 81 communities and nearly 300,000 gas customers in 51 communities. As part of its overall program to improve the reliability and reduce the cost of its electrical generation capacity, NSTAR constructed a new 18-mile underground transmission line that vastly increased the region’s energy options and ensures electric reliability for New England’s future. Construction of the $220M 345 kV transmission line commenced in 2005 and was completed in 2007. Keville Enterprises provided construction inspection services to NSTAR, which included:

• Review of systems, materials & equipment
• Estimating field Changes & VE proposals
• Maintenance of daily project diary
• Recommendations of action
• Review of progress payment requisitions
• Assistance with location and marking of existing in-street utilities, including water, sewer, gas, electric, cable and telecommunications
• Coordination with Boston municipal officials
